Life in Paterson
While developing my visual language around artist portraiture, I felt the need to recreate a fragment of the universe of Paterson by Jim Jarmusch, while building my own narrative around it.
This series was born as a short visual story centered around a solitary musician preparing for the evening concert: listening to other people’s work, playing a few notes on the guitar, searching for a sense of confidence in front of the mirror, petting his dog, wandering through an apartment filled with objects that silently reflect his inner life.
More than a simple cinematic reference, this project allowed me to define the first foundations of what I am looking for today in my artist portraits: an aesthetic of intimacy, melancholy, inhabited spaces, and details that become an extension of the character’s inner world.
